That was a pretty good overview of the marriage market. There are more complications, e.g. gender-role expectations are changing on both sides, and some trends (e.g. obesity) are making people less marriageable.

Here's one partial solution: reduce the number of years we spend in education. Surely education could be performed more efficiently? A doctor in the US needs at least 8 years of university on top of 12 years of schooling.
