Did you see Perun's last video, about the collapse in Russian weapons exports? Russia now has only one reliable weapons customer: Iran. And no, this is not merely a result of diversion of resources to the war effort. Russia doesn't have the economy to unilaterally continue developing and producing advanced weapons systems.
Attacking a NATO country would be a great way to end the Republican-Democrat bickering, unite them, and refocus American attention. Americans might not remember the Budapest Memorandum, but they understand NATO.
I do agree that "Putin’s window of opportunity is closing," and that that partially motivated the invasion of Ukraine. Ironically, that invasion is making his window close much faster.
