A useful and informative article, but I'd like to offer the author some advice about one principle:
"it makes no sense at all to put solar panels on the Earth’s surface."
Because there is a better energy source, we should waste the energy that does strike the Earth? Obviously not--the question is the *energy mix*, which will be a balance among all energy sources according to many criteria. It is risky to become dependent on too few energy sources, as Germany discovered in 2022, even if one of them seems "a near-perfect energy source". People's tendency to have one pet criterion and/or solution, and ignore all the others, leads to mistakes. At this stage, we shouldn't be throwing out any candidates out of personal or political biases.
